| Defeated Claudia Michaels (Architect) and April Song
Date August 16th, 2020
Show/PPV Dreamworld
Location Neutral Territory, Wrestleworld Venue Crown Coliseum Championship Win Stephanie Matsuda found herself caught up in the midst of Claudia Michaels' "reign of terror" when she stood up to her during the King of the World Tournament. This would be only the first domino to fall among many in a chaotic series of events that would result in the formation of a new group known as "The World's Finest" that set out to protect Wrestleworld from The Underworld and any other menace; proving as much by defeating The Underworld in a shocking upset in the Trial of 7 Match at Kingdom Come. The loss would prompt Claudia Michaels to take more drastic measures by giving not only Stephanie Matsuda a second opportunity at the American Dream Championship (her first being at King of the World where she was defeated in controversial fashion due to interference by The One True Pairing) but that April Song - Co-Leader of World's Finest - would compete for the same opportunity at Dreamworld. Claudia would spend the following weeks going out of her way to light a fire between the two notorious rivals of Matsuda and Song in an attempt to destroy World's Finest from the inside and gain an advantage in the Dreamworld match itself to humiliate them. However, the match itself would prove to be a dangerous challenge equally for all three competitors as they tore one another apart with several near-falls for each of them. Claudia Michaels would resort to using her Underworld comrades to tip the scales in her favor, but Wrestleworld Director Jaywalker would combat it by bringing in dozens of Wrestleworld talent to keep them away and keep the match fair. In the end, Stephanie Matsuda was able to overcome Claudia, as well as her rival in April Song, to become the first person in a year of Wrestleworld's existence to dethrone the dominant Architect and capture the American Dream Championship. Championship Defenses October 18th, 2020: While Matsuda was busy dealing with her Dreamworld opponents, Jay Jones and Drago Santiago were cutting a deal with Underworld member, Cash Corleone, to team with him for a match at Dreamworld in exchange for guaranteed shots at the American Dream Championship following Dreamworld. However, after refusing to join The Underworld at the insistence of Maverick, Claudia Michaels chose to force both Santiago and Jones to challenge for the American Dream Championship at the same time in a Three-Way Scramble Match. After further weeks of build up amongst the three, they finally met in the ring at By The Sword. After multiple possession changes of the Championship, Stephanie Matsuda managed to recapture it from Jay Jones' control with a minute remaining of the time limit; ultimately keeping it with her by the end of the match and successfully retaining the Championship for the first time after a brutal back and forth contest. January 3rd, 2021: Matsuda sought to unify The World's Finest that had seemingly begun to show cracks, only to be confronted by the recently-returned Layne Driver. Layne saw an opportunity to give his take on the situation that The World's Finest needed to be united under one true leader before offering his services of joining them and being that leader. Matsuda would decline the offer, but Layne remained determined to make a change as he asked for a Tag Team match with Matsuda against SPAWN that would end with Layne only watching while Matsuda took on both members of SPAWN on her own, ending in defeat. Layne would then literally campaign for what he believed to be his true purpose as not only the leader of The World's Finest, but as the American Dream Champion. A Poll was made that ended with overwhelming votes against Layne, but would all ultimately be futile as Layne would get Claudia Michaels to give him the match for the American Dream Championship regardless. Stephanie Matsuda made no hesitation to welcome the challenge to silence Layne once and for all. The match itself at War of the Worlds became a psychological battle amidst the hardcore warfare as Layne Driver would take control and torture Matsuda; nearly completely destroying her entire arm in the process. However, Matsuda would endure the pain and find an opening to take advantage and eventually outsmart Layne entirely as she resorted to tying him to a bridged Ladder using barbed wire and putting him through it with a Diving Elbow Drop off a 20 foot Ladder. Both of their bodies were broken, but Matsuda refused to let it all end without striking Layne with one final blow to secure the pinfall victory. Championship Loss Immediately following the hellacious contest between Stephanie Matsuda and Layne Driver at War of the Worlds, the world was shocked when Allesandro Devastation (formerly known as Wraith) made his surprise return with the Sapphire Briefcase in hand. Having won the Sapphire Briefcase in the Feast of the Fallen Match back at King of the World, Allesandro has secured a guaranteed American Dream Championship opportunity for any time of his choosing, no matter what the circumstances were. While Allesandro was fresh and more than ready to compete, Matsuda was bloodied and injured from one of the most violent contests of her career. She had no choice but to compete, but regardless stepped up to the challenge despite the odds and gave Allesandro all she had left. However, her body was too damaged and her energy too depleted to put up a fight as Allesandro struck her with a Spear and a Sheer Drop Powerbomb for the controversial defeat.
