| Big Game Hunting April took a small break from the road to return to her home in Denver. After the recent events not only at By The Sword but the total dissolution of her other tag team left her feeling quite in need of a rest. She wondered silently if her partner still trusted her...and wondered herself if she could still trust the Wild Cards after what had happened. Her and Hana were so close to the opportunity to pursue the goal that they had put on hold so that they could battle the Underworld and April could pursue the American Dream title: the Campeonatos De Parejas. There was no camera crew around to film what she had to say, bundled up inside in a blue Air Force sweater and jeans. Just her phone, a glass of wine and the peace that she had been craving for a while. Well, there’s a few wrinkles in the World’s Finest shirt at the moment but hopefully we will get those ironed out. Hana seems very worried about something, she’s been very tough to talk to at times since what Nobi did to us at By The Sword. I mean, I can’t say I haven’t done what he’s done if not worse. Some of you who follow my adventures elsewhere may be wondering how I can even sit here and even dare throw any sort of criticism at Nobi. Honestly, I can’t. I understand Reno getting angry and Hana being worried, but I’m not sweating it. Sometimes you have to do unpopular things to get results and my hope is that Nobi gets where he wants to go without breaking his friendships and putting World’s Finest in a bad spot. You hear that, Nobi? You’re all square with me. At least for the time being. I don’t know if Hana is feeling the same way in all honesty. I will not call her naive, but I do wonder how much experience she’s had in situations like this. Sometimes the ones we look up to let us down, the people that we see as friends can turn out to be something entirely different when competition is something that you have to take into account. I’ve been abandoned by people who I thought were my friends...and admittedly in the past I’ve burned some bridges with behavior that I do have to say is not something I’m particularly proud of.In any event, even though I’ve been able to exercise some patience and show forgiveness, it can’t be understated that the loss put us in a clear third place as far as the hunt for the Campeonatos De Parejas are concerned. Hell, we’d probably be fourth if it weren’t for Drake and Jones getting beaten, but third is nothing to be proud of. How can we have a claim for the title if we’re not one of the two best teams in the division, right? But see, there’s this wonderful thing called a second chance and Hana and I have had one drop right into our unsuspecting little laps. What the hell were they thinking about giving us a match against the Champions themselves!? Now, if we lose this match we’re all but out of the way for a while. But if we WIN, that puts us right there in the conversation, doesn’t it? Beating the sitting champions is almost as good as winning a contenders match any day of the week. The Champion can’t duck you or sidestep you for a mandatory challenger so easily if you’ve just beaten them. I’ve held my share of titles and contended for others, so I’ve been on both sides of this equation. So, to put it in simplest form if me and the Cutest Tag Team Partner in the world get the job done, we’re right at the front of the line. We certainly can’t just step in front of the Wild Cards, but at some point we’re going to have our say especially if Drake and Jones do their job...which they seem surprisingly apt at when they’re being petty and I suspect they’ll probably be willing to do ANYTHING to make the lives of the team that embarrassed them at By The Sword miserable.Do I condone such treatment, especially after the hell I went through with Claudia abusing the hell out of her power? Not really. But I wouldn’t be mad if fortune smiled on us a little bit, that’s for sure. Now that we’ve got the stage set, let’s get down to business! Mr Jaguar, I can understand how you would be especially confident going into a match like this. You’re the champions, you just had a rousing defense against the architects of those titles. You and your partner have gelled so quickly and it’s produced such impressive results it’s hard to think that we have a chance. But….heh, look at us. Of all the teams in Wrestleworld, Hybrid or proper, we’re the smallest, physically the weakest. We’re underdogs going into every match we wrestle, so fighting with warrior’s heart and all that bullshit comes with the territory. There’s so much more to us than what you’ve seen.I think it’s a bit funny that you mention the two matches we came up short in against the Red Zone District and The Wild Cards and I’ll tell you why. The first match, we got jumped by some of Claudia’s goons and still put on a clinic with men twice our size and far fresher. I don’t think I should have to tell you that Nobi pulled some pretty unadmirable tactics out of his ass to beat us. We’ve been beaten, but it’s taken something beyond the pale to put us down just about any time me and Hana team up. You want something more than a Warrior’s heart? How about youthful rage? Hana seems a bit shaken up by what’s happened to her with Nobi, but if what she’s done to people I’ve seen piss her off is any indication, I don’t think she’ll be in a mood to play nice with you guys. Sure she’ll probably play fair and be courteous…Me, I’m in no such mood. I’m realizing that sportsmanship and just wrestling are starting to be less and less a part of wrestling. Now, it should piss off someone like me who purports to embrace the old school, but I’ve got plenty of tricks up my sleeve to be adaptable. You are listening to the woman with a Champion’s mindset, the skills of a conductor orchestrating a symphony of pain. You’ve seen my matches, Big Cat, you know I have a lot more than neck cranks at my disposal. If my submission holds don’t incapacitate you, I’ve got plenty of options to knock you out with. Drake and Jones may have shown you one thing, but you’ll see plenty different from us.And it just may be enough to steal one from you boys.Teddy, I’m wondering if you can give a little insight into your boy, Nobi. Not for my sake, like I said I’m quite alright with what Nobi did, even if it screwed us over. But for the sake of World’s Finest, do you think maybe you can talk some sense into him? The White Knight has gone full Free Companies and Knights Templar on us and it’s a bit confusing. I have my suspicion that Andrew has a hand in this indirectly. I think that battle, even though he won, scarred him eternally.But we can chat about that later. You’re one of the trickiest opponents that I can say I’ve come across. You present challenges in so many ways. Your power, your ability to blend with different partners is a direct counter to what I’ve been able to do. We both know what it’s like to be underdogs, we both know what it’s like to win tag team gold with different partners. I have no issue with either of you guys, you’re both phenomenal wrestlers and worthy champions, far more worthy than the people you won them from and have defended them against thus far. But just like championships can be won in an instant, they can be lost just as quickly...and you certainly don’t want another team sneaking around the chicken coop with a claim to the titles while you already have your mandatory challengers, right?Oh, we have plenty to bring to you boys, and it’s going to be a damn good fight. One other thing I want to show you though. A new friend of mine recently sent me something, something I think would definitely be apropos for the match that we have coming up. Me and Hana, we’re hunting, and we’re looking for our biggest kill yet. Take a look for yourself…April moves the camera to show the skin of a slain jaguar, made into a rug that is on her living room floor, the mouth of the beast open, showing off it’s powerful teeth. Compliments of Jonetta Stone. I’m not one that usually goes for animal skin and fur and all that, but it’s a nice touch to a room with a mostly wooden layout. Kinda tacky and lounge, but it works. One thing that would match quite well with this is some gold...and you boys are carrying it.Time for us to hunt. | |
