“Stormbringer” - A nickname given to him by someone anonymously after Layne garnered a reputation for creating a thunderous response out of crowds due to his underdog-esque characteristics and style. Layne would eventually embrace the nickname and introduce a finishing maneuver he dubbed the “Song of Storms”, which included a theatrical build up to it where he could stalk the opponent from the corner while stomping his foot to the canvas to mimic the sound of thunder, as the fans would follow suit and stomp their feet along with him.
“The Jack of All Trades” - A moniker he gave himself due to his unique style of learning various different styles of wrestling.
“The Master of None” - A more derogatory moniker he gave himself as well, making a joke of his lack of mastering any of said styles he learned.
“The Stray Dog” - His most notable derogatory nickname given to him by his critics that grew to despise Layne for his unloyal and dirty ways, eventually leading him to be considered a dog that belongs to no one, and one that lacks any semblance of an identity, thus making him nothing more to them than a stray dog.
“Tomorrow’s Champion” - A more sentimental moniker that Layne has kept by his side that his first and most influential teacher, Netero Kojima, came up with. Kojima believed he had the natural ability to become the next face of professional wrestling. His bright future led Kojima to begin nicknaming him Tomorrow’s Champion.

Character Summary
Two words have most commonly described the man known as Layne Kurobane, and those words are “wasted potential”. Once upon a time, he was a boy with a natural gift for the art of professional wrestling, and even more perfect fit a piece of that puzzle with a man to teach him and help him hone his craft - a veteran by the name “Netero Kurobane”. However, with great talent comes a risk of an over inflated ego, and that’s precisely what happened as Layne grew less concerned with the puroresu methods his teacher taught him, believing he had learned enough. As their relationship crumbled, Layne put the final nail in the coffin by abandoning his teaching before they were through and went out into the World to pursue other ways of wrestling.
On his own, filled with a lust for learning every variety of wrestling and a chip on his shoulder, Layne sought out every style he could. However, each would end the same as Layne would learn all he felt he needed to before abandoning it and moving on to the next. He continued this attitude throughout the professional wrestling global circuit - gaining a bad reputation of never committing to any one company, instead using each to his advantage to get what he wanted out of them. This eventually blacklisted him from the most notable organizations and left him struggling to find work outside of more obscure promotions.
Layne eventually reflected on his ways and decided to turn over a new leaf - one where he could live up to the potential his original teacher knew he had in him. He made one more sacrifice by dropping his birth surname and adopting “Kurobane” in honor of his former mentor, who had passed away years prior. Before long, Layne captured a true second chance in the Omega Wrestling Alliance, refusing to let opportunity slip through his fingers for potentially the final time as he fully intends to prove he’s more than the nobody and neverwas he had become in the underground circuit, and that he could live up to everything Netero believed he could be: A Champion. Not one of the underground, but of the World. Layne has held the motto “Go For Broke” closely to him in his pursuit to prove everyone wrong and his effort to show the World he’s not dead yet.

Professional wrestling is all Layne has ever known since he was a child, but he’s abused it to suit his ego, exploiting the desire for other companies to have him for his talents. What he eventually became was a man that had mastered no one pro wrestling style, but this also gave him an advantage. He can’t outperform someone in their own game, but he can utilize his other teachings to find a weakness in his opponents. So long as he can observe them, Layne can conjure up something to help him capture the victory.
